No. BIA-7c

Subject:

AIN 0.1 SS7 TCAP Protocol

Bell Canada announces the planned introduction of a Signalling System Number 7 (SS7) network access arrangement using limited Transaction Capabilities Application Part (TCAP) signalling protocol functionality based on AIN version 0.1. This access arrangement may be used by Alternate Enhanced Service Providers (AESPs) for the purpose of providing Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) services to the general public. This access arrangement is planned to be available by 3Q99 in Ontario and Quebec. A trial is expected to be initiated in March.

Compatibility Impact:

As previously disclosed in TAPAC Bulletin I96-02, dated July 5, 1996, the AIN 0.0 version of this protocol was being introduced on a temporary basis, to be replaced by AIN version 0.1 as soon as feasible. With the introduction of AIN version 0.1, version 0.0 will no longer be available.

Documentation:

The physical interface is the same as that previously disclosed in TAPAC Bulletin I96-02, dated July 5, 1996.

The signalling messages that will transit the interface comply with those defined in ANSI T1.114 - 1992, Signalling System Number 7 (SS7) - Transaction Capabilities Application Part (TCAP). These messages convey only a subset of the AIN specific elements defined in Bellcore Technical Reference TR-NWT-001285, Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) 0.1 Switch-Service Control Point (SCP) Application Protocol Interface Generic Requirements, Issue 1, August 1992. This subset of the AIN 0.1 specific elements is defined in Bell Canada Interface Document BID-0026, Specific AIN 0.1 SS7 TCAP Protocol, dated March 1999.

Bell will invoice recipients $65 for each hard copy of Bell document BID-0026. Electronic versions of BIDs are available for $50 each. Please note that prices are subject to change without notice.
