Centrex IP
Bell Canada announces the introduction of a trial for Centrex IP
service. This service will enable IP terminals on a customers LAN to access the
PSTN. This trial will commence in IQ2000. Subject to technical considerations and market
demand, commercial service is expected to be available IQ2001.

The interface between the customers LAN and Bell Canadas network is
described in 2 documents:
Nortel Networks document NIS S227-1
Issue 01.01, "Internet Telephony Services Network Interface Specification"
dated March 1999, describes internet telephony services and features provided by Bell
Canadas network.
Nortel Networks document NIS S228-1
Issue 01.01, "Centrex IP Terminal (NTEX00) Network Interface Specification"
dated September 1999, describes the operation of terminal equipment to be connected to the
Centrex IP Terminal Proxy Server on DMS switches.
These documents are available through a license agreement from Bell Canada or from
Nortel Networks. Information can be obtained from Nortel Networks by contacting Mr. Joe
Hiscott, Director Technology Sales, Nortel Networks at (613) 768-2033. The license fee is
$500 for each document. The agreement can be examined by interested parties by contacting
Bell Canada.
