New Area Code for the 514 Area - update

Bell Canada announces an update of the dates with respect to the introduction of the new 450 area code in the 514 NPA. A previous announcement has been made in BIA-3b, dated March 18, 1997.

The date of introduction has now been established as June 13, 1998. The permissive period will extend from the date of introduction through till January 16, 1999.

Compatibility Impact:

Both, 7- and 10-digit dialing will be permitted between the NPA 450 and NPA 514 during the permissive dialing period.
