BID-0013 dated April 2001. The
amended version, BID-0013 dated
May 2001, has been issued to correct inadvertent errors in the previous
issue. Bell Canada will automatically provide all organizations who
received BID-0013 (April 2001) with the revised Interface Document at no
charge.
BID-0013 (May 2001) specifies
the information to be transmitted between the Enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1)
Automatic Location Identification (ALI) System and terminals at the 9-1-1
Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). This additional information allows
support of E9-1-1 features to identify the wireless cell site / sector
from which 9-1-1 dialed calls are received using the existing telephone
number field, to identify the wireless caller's calling party number (call
back number) which is displayed in case of wireless call, to add a new
field on the printer to identify the telephone number of the Local Service
Provider responsible for updating the subscriber or wireless Emergency
Service Routing Digit (ESRD) records, to add a new DATA LSP ID field to
identify the Local Service Provider responsible for updating the
subscriber and wireless ESRD records. In addition, the PSAP Name field
will be shortened to carry 16 characters instead of 32, the Additional
Information field length will be increased from 22 characters to 60
characters, a new Province field will be added and finally, an Error Flag
will be displayed to allow the call taker to identify that the ALI record
carries an address the 9-1-1 main database indicates is suspicious. Except
for the BID Switch, that will need to support Enhanced Multi Frequency
(E-MF) protocol to carry two strings of 10-digit between the 9-1-1 tandem
and the PSAP equipment (i.e., wireless ESRD and wireless caller's
calling party number), this information is transmitted between the ALI
System and the PSAP using the existing interfaces. Finally, a new message
type with ESCO "NPA-911-0TRK" (Message
Type 8) is added for BID Switch. These changes are expected to become
operational in early IVQ 2001.
E9-1-1 Service delivers location details regarding the origin of a
9-1-1 dialed call to the designated PSAP. Details such as the time and
date, calling line number, street address can be received from the network
by the terminal equipment at the PSAP.
Compatibility Impact:
Terminals listed in Appendix 1 of the Bell Disclosure Document BID-0013
are not expected to be impacted because the additional and modified
information will simply be printed/displayed along with the currently
available information.
For terminals listed in Appendices 2, 5 and 6, the revised message
formats need to be implemented by the user to support the additional and
modified E9-1-1 service capabilities outlined above.
Documentation:
These interfaces were previously disclosed in Bell Interface Document
BID-0013, dated April 2001 in Bell Industry Advisory BIA-1f.
The revised interfaces are described in Bell Interface Document BID-0013,
dated May 2001. Bell Canada Interface documents are available in both
electronic and hard copy formats. Bell will invoice recipients $50 for
each electronic version, and $65 for each hard copy version. Previous
purchasers of BID-0013 will be invoiced $15 for the updated electronic
version and $20 for the updated hard copy version. These prices are
subject to change without notice.
