No. BIA-1a (Formerly SIA-1a)
Bell Canada
announces the addition of information identifying the local carrier through which an E
9-1-1 call was originated. This information, sent from the ALI (Automatic Location
Identifier) system, will be transmitted to the emergency bureau using existing interfaces.
This additional information is expected to become available during 3Q97.
E 9-1-1 Service delivers details regarding the origin of an emergency
call to the emergency reporting location. Details such as time and date, calling line
number and street address can be received from the network by the terminal equipment at
the emergency bureau. The emergency bureau can use this information to provide computer
aided dispatch.
Compatibility Impact:
Terminals and dispatch systems described in Appendices 2, 5 and 6 of
Bell Disclosure Document BID-0013 may require software changes to allow the additional
information to be processed and displayed appropriately. The local carrier identifier will
be turned on only at the emergency bureau's request.
Documentation:
The updated interface specifications are contained in appendices 2, 5,
and 6 of Bell Disclosure Document BID-0013 which
describes the fields identifying the local carrier, as well as other minor updates. Hard
copies of appendices 1, 2, 5, and 6 are available as a package for $20.00. The entire
document BID-0013 can be obtained for $65.00.
Electronic versions of BIDs are available for $50 each. Please note that these
prices may be subject to change without notice.
